Colin Gray
Colin started rowing in the fall of 1992 with the University of Winnipeg. While attending the university, he coached Learn to Row and university rowers.
Following graduation, he moved to Calgary and competed with the Calgary Rowing Club’s lightweight men. In his six years with CRC, he won 3 national championships (one in the straight four, two in the coxless pair). Retiring from competitive rowing in 2000, coaching just seemed to be a natural progression. Colin coached Adult Recreational and Corporate Challenge. As the Calgary Junior coach, his crews brought home gold medals from Henley, Canada Cup, and CanAmMex.
Colin subsequently spent four years as head coach at the Cascadilla Boat Club in central New York state.
Colin is an NCCP Level 3 candidate coach.
Program Coaches
Jill Trigg
Jill started rowing with DCRC in grade 8. She participated in the Royal Canadian Henley regatta on several occasions winning 8 gold medals in the junior A and B categories in singles, doubles and quads. Jill was awarded the top female sculler award by Rowing Canada in her grade 11 year. She was a member of both the provincial and national junior teams, winning a gold medal in Mexico while setting a course record time with her crew. Choosing from over 20 offers of full ride rowing scholarships, Jill chose to attend the University of Virginia.
Jill started coaching for DCRC at age 16. Since returning to North Vancouver, Jill has become the program coach for the North Vancouver School District Rowing Academy. Jill coaches private lessons. She also coaches the Youth Rowing program. She occasionally coaches the Adult Recreational and Adult Masters programs.
Jill is a certified RCA Learn to Row Coach and a certified RCA Coach.
Ron Westfall
Ron started rowing recreationally about 2006. He competed for several years in Deep Cove’s Community Challenge regatta. Currently Ron rows with the Masters several times a week and competes in several regattas each year.
Ron has been coaching since 2012. Ron is the program coach for Adult Recreational Rowing. Ron coaches private lessons. Ron has coached Adult Learn to Row and Community Challenge teams.
Ron is a certified RCA Learn to Row Coach.
